and then there's THIS!

Ryan Lipscomb, who lived to tell the tale after a truck ran over his head, safely ensconced in a bike helmet.
“I didn’t see it coming, but I sure felt it roll over my head,” said the grad student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. “It feels really strange to have a truck run over your head.”
The truck turned in front of him as he rode down a bike path, prompting Lipscomb to slam on his brakes and flip over the handlebars into the path of the truck, which kept on going after rolling over him.
I know people have the freedom to make their own dumb decisions, but I always wonder, especially when I see a parent riding helmetless with their helmeted kids. They’re soooo worried about their kids’ safety, but could care less about whether they themselves will be around to see the kids grow up.
When I was young, invincible and a fool, I didn’t wear a helmet on some days as I worked as a bike courier in DC. The old Bell was big, awkward and hot. Many days I did. But now, I guess I’m a helmet fascist.

With friends like these... who needs any more?

I'm sure we all have these "friends" like this. Ya know, the ones who would get caught with the weed and say "it's not mine - I was just holding it for Roy" which lead to "it's not a crime, everyone does it" and then, "no one told me the gun was loaded" We all need to recognize the problem - the warning signs...

I just got a call from my neighbor's new wife, and we're talking about Thanksgiving Turkey and Free Range vs. Organic etc... when she slips in the quote; "its like when you were doing searches on Tony's computer - I saw those!" and I'm like "what?" She says; "Well I was typing in something on Tony's computer S..he... and up comes a search - Sheryl Crows Tits! on the drop down" she said she called Tony out on it. Now, in the blink of an eye, no no, more like the clocking of a super fast computer, Tony processes... tic tic tic DING! "it was Gregg" I was offended! Right under the bus I go. No pause. Really no thought (kinda like him going to VOS) the proverbial "blink of an eye"

Sheryl Crow? Sheryl Crow! How about Google: super hot lesbian cycling Soprano's and chicken burritos! That one would have had my name written all over it! Not that I would have tried to get out of any search I've ever made, but Sheryl Crow? Hmmmm Ritchie Cunningham, not hard for her to see right thru this - maybe you could have pinned it on Klink? Ya see Tony - if that's your real name - part of the lie is to make the setup believable. But maybe its a bit more clever than that in by doing so you planted a seed that shouts "I'm a good Husband, I can't even lie! I'm the Tops!" Naaaaaaaa, way too much credit!

In knowing that, here's a little primer for ya:

BBI pipes UP!....

OK, even I can admit that October can be the cruelest of months, at least for the Laine family, it was worse that Cruella De Vil was to all those frickin dalmations. Our tally was 6 broken bones (4 in my back, and 2 in my son's forearm, and a mild 2nd degree burn courtesy of a Starbucks Vente Sumatra-which next to Peets Major Dickinsons is one of the finest coffee products available). November has started off better. Why, it's nearly 4 pm and nary a disaster in sight. (Well, I did get called to school today to pick up the twin brother of the broken forarm boy who augered off the monkey bars onto his head, but no concussion). While I am lacking proof, I do strongly suspect Betonte has put a hex upon my brood an I, and soley to enhance his blog. Mountian scum! Keeping it all in perspective is the key. My back is healing at an impressive rate; twin 1 had his arm set and should do well, twin 2 seems to have avoided a significant head injury, and I am only weeks from being freed from holy matromony. Can I have a "hallelujah" from the congregation please. "Hallelujah!"When I go to work, I see people who really do have problems. My current run of misforturns are but small inconviences. 6 months ago I thought I was living a country western song when my ex was threatening to leave with my babies, someone hit my truck, (Betonte again? Fuck that guy!) and my old dog was run over and ded. Now I fondly look back on that period as "the good old days". Still, if it weren't fer bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.
Still living the C-W life.jl

Ashley Olsen Dating Lance Armstrong?
Ashley Olsen has been spotted exchanging affections with cycling champion Lance Armstrong, sparking speculation of a romance.
The unlikely couple -- with 15 years between them -- enjoyed an intimate evening at the Gramercy Park Hotel bar in New York on Monday night, according to reports.
A source tells Page Six, "They came together with a group of friends. Ashley drank red wine, sat on his lap and they were making out all night. They left together around 2 a.m."

I truly believe his coming has brought the great change of course regarding Noel putting us in a direct path. Sponsor Mistreatment....

During a job this year there was a crash - as always. In the pits was this heap. In full site of everyone. Now, keeping in mind to have your sponsors best interest at the forefront one would think this bike would be so far buried out of sight it would never see the light of day - however, when the team guy saw me taking a picture of it he thought it to be "courteous" to hold it up as to give me a better shot...

Broke Back Idiot, The Sequel....

The hits just keep coming... Yesterday saw Doctor Over Achiever in pain and in the hospital.
First off the physical pain. We all need coffee - given, mmmmmmm coffee, ether ice cold or, um.... super hot! Better sipped, but for some addicts, all in one shot! Yes, all in one shot! Oh oh, not down the hatch but DOWN THE NECK! Yes down the neck! 10 am, his story goes as such that he placed the large cup upon the roof of the car while he was leaning over into it - his daughter gets in, the car shakes, and we all get to see how much his back has healed as the liquid lava pours down it. One should never place hot liquid above the knee.

3pm, soccer, super fun for some kids. Super boring for others - these are the brothers and sisters of those playing - these kids are called "fans". I'm not sure what you call a father with a broken back with 3rd degree coffee burns.... mmmm? Someone else's dad? ya, that's it! Anyway, the "fans" were getting restless - hell this frickin game has dragged on for more than 3 minutes! when a fence off in the distance starts calling... Sawyer...Sawyer, come over here and climb me, c-mon, are you some kind of pussy? oh, and who's that junk show holding your hand?

Sawyer is an escape master, and a professional trickster. He escapes punishment many times by his tricks. Though he is often foolish and unpredictable, he also is somewhat smart and has a good sense of humor. When not getting into mischief or going on an adventure. Many times, Sawyer suddenly changes from his grinning self into a fearsome pirate or Indian. His laugh changes into a bloodcurdling yell the second he falls from the fore mentioned fence, as he breaks his arm in half. He is best known for persuading his friends to paint, a long fence for him.
Oh, not the one he broke his arm on!

Then -today -BBI flew to Florida right into the path of the coming hurricane...
Stay tuned for the future adventures of The Broke Back Idiot and Pals! The only thing is how he takes it all in stride! All this was reported by BBI himself all the while laughing...

Try some cross training this season.... or not

LT. GOVERNOR CASEY CAGLE TO CHAIR
SIXTH ANNUAL TOUR DE GEORGIA
America’s Premier Cycling Event Continues With Renewed Enthusiasm for 2008

ATLANTA, Ga. (October 25, 2007) – The annual Tour de Georgia cycling event and rolling festival will continue for a sixth season, April 21-27, 2008 and will be reorganized under new leadership, it was announced today by Lt. Governor Casey Cagle. Owned by the not-for-profit Georgia Partnership for Economic Development (GPED), the event will now be governed by a reconstituted Board of Directors with the Lt. Governor serving as Chairman. Medalist Sports will continue as the logistics and operations management company for the Tour, led by Chris Aronhalt and Jim Birrell. Elizabeth Dewberry, who has worked with Cagle for five years, will be named as Executive Director of the Tour de Georgia and will manage the marketing, business operations and strategic partnerships. The current GPED Board is taking action to ratify these changes.

“The Tour de Georgia is an internationally known sporting event. It is the largest cycling race in the U.S. occurring just before the Tour de France. The Tour represents an excellent opportunity to bring the world to our state – and that is what we intend to do. Through aggressive marketing and strategic partnerships, we will add this event to the ranks of historic Georgia sporting events like The Masters and the Peachtree Road Race,” said Cagle, who was elected as Lt. Governor in 2006. “The cities we will select this year will exemplify all the special qualities and Southern hospitality that make Georgia the greatest state in America. The race and activities focused around it in every community will encourage others to visit our state again and again - having a strong impact on our state’s tourism development and overall economy.”

The Tour de Georgia has enjoyed great success since its inception in 2003, attracting 2.8 million spectators to communities across the state and generating $148 million in economic impact in those five years. Last year the Tour expanded from six to seven days, allowing more communities to take part in the festivities. The week-long event will maintain its traditional “Tour de France tune-up” slot on the UCI international cycling calendar as a 2. HC (Hors Categorie) professional event during the third week of April. It is also part of the USA Cycling Professional Tour. The event has gained international acclaim for the strong field of cyclists who compete each spring, includingseven-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong who competed in Georgia twice, and winning the overall title in 2004.

"The Tour de Georgia has established itself as one of the premier events for professional cyclists and for cycling fans in North America”, stated Levi Leipheimer, current National Road Race Champion (USA Cycling Professional Championships) and 3rd Overall in the 2007 Tour de France. “Personally, I enjoy participating in the Tour de Georgia as it is perfectly placed in the world cycling calendar in terms of preparation for the Tour de France. The challenging courses, enthusiastic crowds and southern hospitality are the best of any North American race."

The Tour de Georgia, owned by GPED, a 501c6 organization developed by the state’s sales and marketing division, Georgia Department of Economic Development. In 2006 the Tour faced financial challenges that were resolved only weeks before the race commenced. Recognizing that this event was indeed a strong driver for economic impact and tourism, the office of the Lt. Governor is taking initiative to support the Tour de Georgia as a valued sports property for the state. The reorganization will focus on increasing multi-year business partnerships with the event and creating year-round publicity.

The challenging route for the sixth annual Tour de Georgia is expected to again cover over 650 miles of scenic roadways and communities across Georgia. Lt. Governor Cagle, in partnership with Medalist Sports, will announce the official route and Host Venues on November 14.

Broke Back Idiot..... Jlaine rides again!

To those of you who thought it was a joke - see: Tis But A Scratch... post mon. Oct 8th, I assure you it was not - broken in 4 places, Jlaine rides again! I got a call saying "I'm better now and I want to ride". "Who is this"?... ah but none other than the good doctor herself! Yes DOCTOR - ya know, the one who tells you that YOU! can't ride your bike for 6 weeks! But I guess he can? Or, um, do as I say not as I.... or, who's the Doctor here! The jackass pushed 300w for about 30 miles - I hope it hurts now... Why? oh not cuz he's out doing it. That alone gives us all creative license to ride thru any injury, shit, compound fracture? two aspirin.. NEXT! But I hope he hurts due to his "fashion" yes "fashion" For the love of chr... get rid of the Nevada club gear! - no offence guys, but I know none of them can read! hehehehe... kidding, KIDDING!

J- You switched teams! They don't want you no more! Read your By-Laws, it states; when training or racing you are to wear the current team clothing... and give Gregg $50...

Give it up man, move on!

Oct. 7th
Here, this will help-

1 Avoid the former team. Yes, avoid. No, this isn’t being immature. Seeing your former team can bring out emotions and may cause you do to or say something you will regret.

2 Talk out your feelings with new teammates. Get everything out so that you won’t hold it inside. Your friends may get sick of hearing you talk about the situation but you need to let out all your feelings and thoughts or they may come back to bite you later.

3 Cry if you want to. It’s OK to cry over a loss. Don’t hold back, let the tears roll just do it in a safe and private place where it is unlikely to get back to your ex-teammates. You don’t want your tears to be used as a guilt trip. Their purpose is to cleanse you of any pain not make your team come back.

4 Let go of mementos. Put away or give away anything and everything that reminds you of the relationship - like the frickin kit?!

5 Focus on all the things about your ex-team that drove you crazy, turned you off, or that you just plain found annoying. Think about these things often and replay them in your mind over and over.

6 Think about the mean, cruel or rude things your ex-team may have done in your relationship

7 Maintain a strict no contact policy and stick with it. Don’t pass notes through friends. Don’t make any calls. Stay away from instant messaging or texting on your cell. Just don’t contact your ex-team until you are totally and completely sure you're ready to drill them into the ground!
